The most chaotic lyrics on Selling Sunset
Here we go, wake it up. Make it up, sun shine. Keep it going, making moves.
The hit reality show Selling Sunset has returned to Netflix for a fourth season. I had only previously watched half of the first season, but I decided to dive into the current season.
If you’re not familiar with the show, a brief description: the show centers around the beautiful employees of the Oppenheim Group, a luxury real estate company in West Hollywood. The show is a concoction of pretty people in pretty homes, surrounded by petty drama - a simple formula which nearly always works. It’s filmed in the same shimmery manner as Laguna Beach, The Hills, and Made in Chelsea, which makes sense - Selling Sunset’s executive producer Adam Divello was integral in the aforementioned shows.
The show features five-to-six interstitial songs per episode. The lyrics are incredibly vague, the music is sugary-sweet pop, and it is all an integral ingredient to the show. There’s even a bot Twitter account which generate songs using lyrics from the transition music, if you’d like to get more familiar.
This type of hyper-pop, hyper-girl-boss music can often be heard in transition scenes in Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules (VPR fans will remember the infamous “Boy, you are a boy” song from a recent season). The music is outlandish, whimsical and is seemingly composed and churned out in a lab. Because of this type of music’s nature on Bravo shows, Watch What Crappens podcast hosts Ronnie Karam and Ben Mandelker have created a character called “Trixie Monocle” who they claim to be responsible for these songs. We can assume Trixie is also working for Selling Sunset.
So with that, let us go through each episode of season 4, where we will explore some of the most chaotic lyrics from this season, along with some light commentary. And to aid you through is a Spotify playlist of the actual songs on the show from all four seasons.
Selling Sunset cast
Episode 1:
“Brushing off my shoulders, I just got a little bolder, I’m at it again. I’m back, I’m back.”
As this plays in the opening credits, we are set up for the season ahead. The girls are at it again, indeed.
“Take my name out of your mouth, I don’t want to hear you talking when you’re around. Cause everywhere I go it’s like you’re always there.”
We are introduced to the show’s villain, Christine Quinn.
“I’m at the Vatican drinking with the Pope, I’m out in Paris getting French toast. Tokyo, sake sipping in the Ro’. You, Japan, domo arigato.”
This song sounds like that Purple Hat song. Listen here.
Episode 2:
“I got goals, I’m motivated, while you’re sitting there just waiting. I got a million dollar attitude and making money’s what I do.”
I’d hope so, you have houses to sell, Mary!
“Get your kicks on, better get your feet a-running. Get a move on, I feel something good is coming. Got a message I know you’re anticipating.”
“I look good with the lights on. I push play watch me go off. New kid on the same block. I’m the one. I write the law, freeze the frame, I shake up the game.”
I will be analyzing the “new kid on the same block” lyric for at least a week.

Episode 3
“Step aside here comes trouble. Taking names, skrrt skrrt, on the double. Unleash the beast, ready to feast.”
We are introduced to new character Emma Hernan with the most frenzied of lyrics.
Episode 4
“Do you really wanna play with fire? Jump high, but I fly higher.”
Is that a threat??
Episode 5
“Not sure where I’m going, but I’m taking it slow. Life is fast, it all comes and goes.”
Contradicts literally every other song on this show.
“Cause I’m free, free to be myself. Answer to no one else. And it’s taking me higher.”
Hell ya, girl boss

Episode 6
“I’ve got this weakness, can’t help myself. My crowning achievement, it’ll drive me down to hell. Maybe I’ll go, maybe I’ll rise again singing, singing Hallelujah.”
Praise be.
“I’m a savage. I’m a savage. If I want it, I’mma take it, I’mma have it. Then I get to have it.”
We get it - you’re a savage and you have it.
Episode 7
“I’m living in the moment. I make the people know this. I’m happy and I know it. Go on, clap your hands.”
It doesn’t seem like you’re living in the moment with these lyrics.
Episode 8
“Here we go, wake it up. Make it up, sun shine. Keep it going, making moves. ‘Bout to have a good time.”
“Make you sweat like a fever. On your knees, a believer. So sweat, sweat. I hope you’ve got your Hallelujah saved up. Watch me flex when I hustle.”
It’s the religious symbolism for me.
Episode 9
“I try to do what’s right. I smile through all the plights. I jumped, thought I could fly. I got burned up in the backfire.”
A defeated queen.
“I’m with the stars, grabbing planes and cars. Ain’t no trip too far. Got ‘em looking my way. They know I’m a star, Champagne at happy hour. Ain’t no dream too far.”
Episode 10
“I can feel it coming, gonna turn it on. Kick it up a level. Oh, oh it’s gonna be big.”
“I did a bad thing. I’m in it to win it. No limit, got that mad game.”
I guess the bad thing was worth it?
